Germany Approves Reduction of WHP

As of April 30, 2025, the BVL (German Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety) has approved the reduction of the withholding period (WHP) for 1,4SIGHT® from 30 days to 3 days, following the implementation of a higher MRL for 1,4-DMN in potatoes.

“The lower WHP of 3 days makes the use of 1,4SIGHT® way more flexible and enables German storage managers to use new, even more efficient strategies in their storages. It also benefits everyone in the supply chain—from logistics to supermarkets and consumers—by preserving and adding longer shelf-life to our potatoes,” said Fabian Frings, Strategic Marketing & Accounts Manager for DormFresh.
